Guidelines for Volume Submissions

Sending Your Work:

We accept submissions through submittable; please refer to our submittable webpage for specific guidelines and deadlines .  Each submission should be sent in a seperate email. A brief bio of yourself, along with a website/blog (if you have one) and where you are from, is required with your submission.

 

Response Time:

Our response time is between one to two weeks after the submission deadline. You will be notified via submittable if your piece is accepted or rejected. Please note that your work will be blindly examined and decided upon by a group of reviewers, so if you receive a rejection letter, please do not be discouraged, and do not hesitate to continue submitting. 

 

Compensation/Events:

There is no compensation for authors at this time - this includes free copies of volumes. If your work is accepted and you live in Los Angeles (or are willing to travel), you are invited to join us at our volume release/open mic event!

 

Specific Guidelines for Volume Submissions:

Poetry: You may submit up to five pieces per volume. The poems should be sent in separate emails. Your writing style should be conveyed within these five poems.

 

Cover Art Submissions:

For artists looking to have their work featured on The Altar Collective’s website and on the cover of our books we ask you to submit high resolution (300 DPI) images of your sketches in PDF or JPEG to our art director, Yo-Yo Lin. DO NOT submit us photos you've taken of your work, please take the time to scan your work.
